Web Applications Technician

AWS Truewind, LLC is currently seeking a Web Applications Technician to help oversee our wind mapping projects that are being deployed via the web. These applications are hosted on varying platforms and utilize web-based GIS software. The individual will be responsible for maintaining the various applications and their underlying databases, providing technical support, as well as innovative ideas and improvements for the applications. This position will also provide general support to the Departments of Meteorology & Modeling, and Project Services.

The successful candidate will deal effectively with colleagues in order to understand current processes and datasets, as well as providing support to our clients. The candidate must also have the ability work independently. In addition, the candidate must be detail-oriented, and possess good verbal, organization and documentation skills.

Specific job functions may include, but are not limited to: technical support to our web users; general maintenance of the web mapping applications; development and formatting of new regional datasets as well as updates to older information, primarily in GIS format; creation of wind resource maps and associated data through the use of GIS software and in-house mapping programs; and identification and implementation of basic web tools and improvements.

Education

Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Web Application Development, Information Technology, or related field required.

Experience

This position requires at least 1-2 years of experience in the field of web development. Relevant experience in GIS, raster analyses, or web-based mapping solutions is preferred. Database management is also a plus.

Software

Microsoft Web API (ASP or .net), JavaScript, HTML and ColdFusion. Experience with ESRI’s ArcGIS Server and ArcIMS software is preferred.

Location

This full time position will be located in Albany, NY. Minimal travel may be required.
